Why a statement collects better than another invoice copy
Resending individual invoices puts the work of adding them up on your customer. A statement of account does that work for them and removes the most common stalling answer, which is that they are not sure what is still outstanding.
Send one at the same point each month. Predictability is what makes it feel like process rather than pressure, and it is the cheapest collections improvement most SMEs can make.
Ageing is what creates urgency
List each invoice with its date so the customer can see how long items have been outstanding. An invoice dated four months ago sitting next to one from last week makes the problem self-evident without you having to make the point.
Questions
What is a statement of account?
A statement of account is a summary sent to one customer listing all their outstanding invoices, the date of each, and the total owed. It is a collections document, not a tax document.
Is a statement of account the same as an invoice?
No. An invoice charges for one specific job or delivery. A statement summarises everything still unpaid across many invoices. You cannot use a statement in place of a tax invoice.
How often should I send statements?
Monthly, on a consistent date, is the norm for Singapore SMEs. Consistency matters more than frequency: customers start expecting it and reconcile against it.
When documents stop being the problem and tracking starts, Digital 9 Labs builds a custom system around how your Singapore business already works — quotes, jobs, delivery and invoicing in one place, with the numbers entered once.
