A job card is a record, not an instruction
The work order tells the technician what to do. The job card captures what was actually found and done, which is rarely identical. That gap is where your billing, your warranty position and your service history all live.
Record parts used by quantity, not just by name. A job card that says "replaced seals" cannot be costed; one that says "2 × 25mm shaft seal" can.
Job cards build a service history worth having
Filed consistently against the same customer or asset, job cards become a service history: what has failed before, what was fitted, how long it lasted. That history is what lets you quote a maintenance contract with confidence instead of guessing.
