What is a design system?
A design system is the small set of decisions every page of your website and software reuses: your colour ramps, type scale, spacing, corner radius and the components built from them. Fixing those once is what makes a brand look consistent instead of assembled page by page.
Is the Design System Toolkit free?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, needs no signup, and nothing you type is sent to Digital 9 Labs unless you choose to message us. You can export your tokens as JSON, CSS variables or a Tailwind config and keep them.
How is my palette generated?
Your exact brand hex is pinned into the ramp at whichever step matches its lightness, then the other nine steps are generated around it, losing chroma in the tints and holding it in the shades. Neutrals are tinted with your brand hue so the greys belong to your brand rather than looking borrowed.
What is the contrast check for?
Text has to be legible on your brand colour. The toolkit measures the WCAG 2.1 contrast ratio of your button text against your button fill and grades it AAA, AA, AA Large or Fail, so you find out before launch rather than after an accessibility complaint.
