How AI CMS works, step by step

By Digital 9 Labs · Updated

Short answer

You type the change you want, AI CMS shows the exact before and after, you apply it to a private preview of your real website, and when it looks right a publisher presses Publish. Every saved change becomes a version you can return to later.

Step by step

  1. Sign in and open your website

Sign in to AI CMS. If you look after one website you land straight in its editor; agencies and larger teams choose the site first.

  2. Describe the change

Type what should change in plain English, for example "Make the main heading friendlier". You can also drag, paste or attach a picture for the assistant to see or use.

  3. Review the proposal

The assistant replies with the exact edit: what the text says now and what it will change to. Nothing has changed yet.

  4. Apply it to the preview

Press Apply to preview. The private preview of your real website updates in its own design. Only your team can see it.

  5. Publish

When you are happy, press Publish and confirm. AI CMS puts the change live and then checks the live page.

  6. Go back if you need to

Every saved change is listed as a version in plain words. Open an earlier version, check it in the preview and publish it again.

What you see on screen

The editor has two halves. On the left is the chat, with the assistant's proposals and your versions. On the right is the preview: your actual website, running privately, updating as you accept changes.

A small status line tells you where you stand, for example "Changes not live yet" or "Live site is up to date", so nobody has to guess whether the website matches what they see.

Pictures

Drag a photo into the chat, paste a screenshot or attach a file. The assistant can see the picture, describe it, and place it where your design has a picture, such as a banner or a section image. AI CMS stores the picture and serves it in a fast web format.

  • Up to three pictures per message
  • JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF
  • Pictures up to 3 MB each

What the AI can and cannot change

The assistant edits the content your website is built from: headings, paragraphs, buttons, links, pictures and page details for search engines. It does not change your code, layout or styling, so a request cannot break the design. Larger changes, such as a new page layout, are handled by the Digital 9 Labs team.

Who can do what

  • Viewers can open the editor and see the preview and versions.
  • Editors can ask for changes, apply them to the preview and save versions.
  • Publishers can do everything editors can, and put changes live.

Questions

How long does a change take?
The assistant usually proposes a change within a few seconds, and the preview updates shortly after you apply it. Publishing takes one confirmation.
Can two people edit at the same time?
Yes. Changes are saved as versions, and publishing checks that the live website has not changed since your version was made, so nobody's work is overwritten.
What happens if I publish a mistake?
Open the version before the mistake, check it in the preview, and publish it again. The mistake stays in the history, so you can see what happened.
Does the preview show my real website?
Yes. It is a private copy of your actual website running with your changes, not a template or mock-up.
